Background Information on D-Day
D-Day was caused by one man who rose to power in Germany. His name was Adolf Hitler. He wanted to take over Europe so Germany could dominate over everyone else because the Triple Alliance (Great Britain, France, and America) took away some of their land after World War I. Hitler caused World War II to erupt because he was taking over Europe and taking land from other countries. Hitler thought that the world had to be perfect with only blonde-hair and blue-eyed people and no sick people. He targeted the Jews, Homosexuals, Gypsies, and people with cancer and other sicknesses that we had no cure for. Hitler killed approximately nine million people, six million of them being Jewish people. He wanted the best for Europe, the future Germany in his eyes.
The Triple Alliance joined up again to stop Hitler. They didn't like where Hitler was going and they didn't want one country dominating over Europe. They planned to march through Europe to stop Hitler. D-Day was on June 6th, 1944 at 6:30 in the morning in Normandy, France. D-Day was also known as the Liberation of the Jews. The Triple Alliance freed people from Concentration Camps and led them back to their families.
